The gogoBrain2 is a simple circuit board designed around the NodeMCU-32S development board, which features the ESP32 SoC microcontroller. The ESP32 has advanced features including WiFi.
Power is supplied to the NodeMCU-32S board with a standard USB cable. The pinout includes sections for SPI, I2C, and a rotary encoder, which can also have a button. Each section has its own power and ground. The gogoBrain2 includes a power amplifier for the display LED backlight, which can be controlled by PWM.
The gogoBrain2 is programmable through the standard USB port on the NodeMCU-32S board. For convenience, the programming pin, P0, is wired to the encoder button. The remaining available pins on the NodeMCU-32S board can be accessed by adding a pin header to the row of through-holes at the edge of the board.
This board is easy to manufacture. The circuit is one-sided with a single jumper, and screen printing on one side. It acts as a breakout board, with a backlight LED amplifier to support a display connected through the SPI or I2C section. The LED amp will work with any matched pair of multi-purpose signal transistors.
